Chinese investors plan $10bn metallurgical complex in South Africa

China has signed an agreement with South Africa to build a $10 billion metallurgical complex in the country.
China’s President, Xi Jinping who visited President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria reaffirmed the commitment of his country to boost bilateral ties with South Africa.
President Ramaphosa had earlier said at a joint news conference with President Xi on Tuesday that China had committed to invest $14.7 billion into South African economy.
Trade and Industry Minister in South Africa, Rob Davies said the metallurgical project was still in the planning stage.
Richard Zitha, a project executive at the Musina-Makhado SEZ where the complex will be based, said the project was being led by Chinese state-owned companies.
