Electoral Commission to suspend Voter Registration in Anambra

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has alerted the public that the on-going continuous Voter Registration exercise in Anambra State would be suspended on the 17th of August.
The Head, Voter Education and Publicity in the commission, Mr Leo Nkedife says the exercise will be suspended in all the 21 local government areas of the state.
Suspension reason
Mr  Nkedife said the suspension was to enable the commission have enough time to process the registeration and produce the Permanent Voters Cards, PVC, before the 2019 general election.
Explaining that the exercise would continue after the general election, Mr Nkedife maintained that ”the collection of PVC would be ongoing till the 18th of February, 2019.”
Appeal
He therefore appealed to all the citizens who have not yet registered or who lost their cards to avail themselves of the opportunity.
“Those that want to transfer their PVC from one location to another or those whose PVC was defaced should use this opportunity to update it now that the exercise is on,” he said.
Mr Nkedife commended the people of Anambra State for their cooperation as he cautioned against double registration and using fake PVC during election.
He also discouraged youths from being allowed as an agent for election malpractices.
