Earlier today, a viral debate about spousal rape was shared on the blog (read here) and one of the comments left on the post by an LIB reader was attention-grabbing. In reply to the post about spousal rape and whether there's such a thing, one LIB reader revealed that pretty much every married woman in Nigeria has been forced by her husband to have sex. She lamented this habit by men and said most women are forced to give in after the men threaten them that they will get their relief elsewhere. The anonymous reader commented: "This lady's response is so apt. A five star indeed. There's hardly any married woman who can't relate to this or who hasn't been 'raped' by her hubby before. Sometimes I just wish these men can be more understanding instead of threatening us that they will go and get their relief outside if we don't cooperate. As if they aren't already... .mschew. the life of an African married woman sha. I love my husband still tho but I just wish some days are better."Is she right though? Has spousal rape become so common in marriages that it is now seen as the norm?
